Painter
August 2007

I suppose this would be considered a quick study, I spent 2-3hrs on it. I used three basic preset brushes to render this image, all taken from the artists oils section in PainterIX
Dry bristle, grainy dry brush and blending palette knife. Nothing too fancy, I switched from one to the other to achieve the desired look and played around with opacity, viscosity and a few other nice features available in Painter. I'm relatively new to the application, I started using it seriously only a few months ago.
At any rate, trying to explain this image wouldn't really make sense so I prefer letting it speak for itself. It all started when I found a dead roach outside my front door one morning... After looking at it up close (yes I know that's pretty gross) I decided to taste it, not literally of course. Lastly and most importantly, because this is, as I mentioned, more of an exercise in lighting, hues and facial expression I haven't really decided on the background yet. Any suggestions are welcomed.
